Billot’s method is to have the racks of bottles stored in a larger adjacent room, the perfumer making a selection of the bottles that he immediately needs and which he (or she) removes in a kind of enamel or tinplate dish, 30 X 30 cm. and 5 cm. deep. Rather like a surgical tray. This gives the perfumer more freedom and, incidentally, allows a greater variety of odorants to be kept in store.
